Greetings all,
I don't think the USA has ever had a more divisive president than Trump, I think this is more a reflection of our times than a just a referendum on Trump. The division between the left and the right is greater than ever and more vicious. Its unbelievable to think an executive at CBS could be so callous as to say (less than 24 hours later) she had no sympathy for the victims of the Las Vegas massacre because probably most were republicans. A complete lack of empathy or humanity. Yet she worked her way up to a high position in a very public company CBS. Her attitude must have been acceptable as she worked her way through the ranks it was probably her disclosure of her attitude that got her canned.
Had Hillary won, she'd would be as polarizing as Trump and even less able to get anything done. She'd be under endless investigations for her e-mail server and other issues and have to deal with a republican house and senate. Trump wasn't my first choice, probably about 16th out of the others running. However I was likely to vote against Hillary either way not because Trump has better character or is politically savvy because she seemed to think the country was headed in the right direction. So far, I have no regrets about my vote. I share Trumps views on many issues. He's not a slick seasoned politician and his mouth gets him in trouble. I think its a refreshing change to hear someone who doesn't have a teleprompter when ever he speaks.
To those who hate Trump I want to hear from a policy standpoint where you think he's gone completely wrong.

Sad. It takes two to tango, whether with Trump or Obama. And there is a whole hoedown in the political barn and fights are breaking out among the ideologically inebriated celebrants. I didn't vote for either major candidate. I will never again be cornered into voting for the "least worst". In the USA, it is Congress that is the real power ... if you are interested in politics, you need to ignore the White House clown car ;-(

I voted for Trump not that it mattered, Hillary would carry this state even if in jail. I'm not sure if politicians will ever be the same after Trump because unlike Obama who painstakingly made sure every statement was carefully crafted Trump speaks his mind off the cuff. I hope the people demand that. Obama was painful to watch how politically correct he always spoke.

Trump should have moved the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. He should take a stronger stance on religious liberty to protect churches and Christian business owners from the idiocy of the liberals. I don't support his environmental policies, but I wouldn't have expected Hillary to do any better.

No president has done exactly what I think should be done...and if I were president I'd probably change my mind about what should be done. He is changing the posture of the country and may change how politicians behave. Whether for better or for worse time will tell. Hillary would have even less chance of passing legislation and would be under multiple investigations.

This is the main reason why he was elected, and neither the Republicans, nor the Democrats fully realize this. Since Trump's hasn't spent his life in politics and has always had enough money that he didn't have to care about what others think of him, he can always tell us the truth about the issues and problems that the country is facing. When he says or does something, we can trust him to not be doing it for the sake of political gain.

There are some unique qualities Trump brings to the table and it could alter the political landscape in many ways. But as with all presidents its not ideology or political leanings I measure by performance. Two broad categories prosperity and security. There are all kinds of sub-categories with in that but so far I sense we're more prosperous and I attribute some of that to Trump. I'm not sure if we're more or less secure. It doesn't give me a warm fuzzy when he says this is the calm before the storm but won't elaborate.

There is a world war going on, since 1914, with temporary truces between the serious fighting. Don't expect this to change. It depends on how crazy China and Russia are, as much as it is about how crazy the US and GB are. Expect tragedy.
On domestic policy ... there is "how are you doing" vs "are we moving in the right direction". The public at this time on policy in general (domestic and foreign) say we are going in the wrong direction. Also it is wrong to think that Trump controls anything vs the generals and Goldman-Sachs. Look at his current team. So we can hope that the generals and Goldman-Sachs know what they are doing. Trump will have 3-7 more years of photo-ops, pretending to be President.

I think Trump is trying to rattle their cage enough to prompt them to take action against Kim. The only sensible alternative I can see to encouraging a coup is to send in special ops to secure NK's nukes and take out Kim. But doing this depends on what kind of shape Obama left our military and intel abilities in.

He Kim Jung Un must be paranoid, that would be normal rational thing to be in his case. Hitler was always worried about being assassinated yet he dodged it on many occasions.

I can't believe that Kim's own people haven't taken him out already. As often as he picks a few for execution and the ways in which his executions are carried out his own people have to be as paranoid of him as he is of the U.S.

In that context, is it even possible for there to be a regime change, since no other thought has been allowed for so long?

I would hope that at some point the desire for self-preservation on the part of Kim's family and underlings would kick in. What you describe is akin to what the Japanese had during World War II when they believed their emperor to be a god and were willing to sacrifice their lives for him. It took 2 atomic bombs to make them change their minds. It may prove to be no different with the North Koreans.
