Senator Feinstein says that she knows of no law that would have prevented the Vegas shooting.
If no such law exists, explain how countries like the UK and Australia seldom ever have mass shootings, let alone on a scale equal to the U.S.A.
I come from a family of gun owners and hunters, but how many gun deaths is it going to take before most Americans insist that enough is enough?

Unfortunately Americans are predatory, we are not pacifists. As a nation, as parties, as individuals ... we will continue to depredate. My family also owned guns, but were never irresponsible with them. But then we were sane.
No law can prevent anything at all. Humanity can pass as many laws as it likes, and the fact is, humanity is in anarchy. A fake solution to unchangeable human nature.

Between the 3 of them my mother's father and 2 brothers easily traded at least a million dollars' worth of guns in their collective lifetimes. Her oldest brother had so many that he had to have a walk-in concrete block safe built in his garage. When he died his son inherited some of them and the rest went to the younger brother. When the younger brother died his guns were split between me and the oldest brother's son. I sold all of the ones I ended up with except for an 187-something Winchester long gun. I've never cared for hunting or guns (I prefer tanks and canons).

Some people have strange hobbies. I have never particularly cared for guns, so little interest. Books though ... I am a book nut. My fear isn't gun control, it is Fahrenheit 451.

I was a bibliomaniac before I was even in the 1st grade. I don't read as much as I used to because arthritis makes it hard to hold a book, and I've got a bad heart so if I'm awake my doctors think my blood pressure is too high. So when I am awake I can't afford to spend energy doing nothing more than reading. But, I do listen to a lot of audiobooks while doing yardwork and gardening.

Glad you have audiobooks. I am starting to enjoy audiobooks on Youtube. My recently passed mother, had become mostly deaf and blind before the end, and unable to care for herself. I think the "blind" part is my biggest worry.

I think the "blind" part is my biggest worry. Go to librivox.org. They have free audiobooks for a ton of public domain material. They aren't professional quality since everything is read by volunteers, but it's a good resource. Also, you might be able to download audiobooks from your public library's website. My library has this service, but I haven't yet taken the time to download anything.

Right. I have links to several librevox works ;-) I recently enjoyed listening to Book I of Caesar's Gallic War Commentary in the original Latin (with English subtitles).

A few weeks ago I finished Dickens' Martin Chuzzlewit from librivox. I've downloaded Wuthering Heights, but I've only listened to the first 2 chapters. I had to read the book over the summer between 9th and 10th grade, but my 10th grade teacher never gave the test he was supposed to. I'm a little afraid to listen to it; I worry that Heathclife may be as frightening as I remember him being.
