Greetings All,
Why another discussion board? I decided to create this board because most of the discussion boards I have visited don't enforce civil discussion. In fact it often seems demeaning and berating fellow posters is encouraged. At Civil Discourse it won't be tolerated.
'Civil discourse is engagement in discourse (conversation) intended to enhance understanding.'
This is the guiding principal of conversation on this board. That doesn't mean to say you can't mount a scathing attack...of ideas, not people. Its cheap, tacky debating tactics to call your adversary stupid or moronic every chance you get. Notice how the definition is to enhance understanding, it doesn't mean it causes agreement between two parties.
I have four main areas of interest.
Politics and Government
Theist-Atheist Debate
